Is there a way to connect one of these lcd screens to a pci or desktop video? so basically you are using just the lcd and not the laptop mb as well?

Hey, your mod inspired me to make my own using a Thinkpad 760XL ….yeah…ik, it doesn’t run it perfectly, but it cost me absolutley nothing to make and the thinkpad design made it look more like a picture frame if anything. I don’t remember whether your mod got posted on hackaday or gizmodo (it should have been on gizmodo, the kid that modded his dell did a horrible job). i was thinking i would do this with my old compaq, i dont want to use a perfectly good mac for the job. what i would do though is install a picture grame around the laptop, that would make a nice addition.

Fun to see people are happy/hobbying around with our free screeensaver.

Although I must admit the comparison of 3- 240 dollars in my eyes might be overlooking some details, like developments hours, assembly time, taxes, the hardware etc. etc. a company has to invest.

But anyway; those who can do the hack for pricate use; have fun, hope you like our screensaver, if so send us an e-mail with a picture of your finished project. It’s fun to see how a little idea can atract attention of the masses like this.

I just bought a powerbook on ebay just to try out this hack. Cost me $55 after shipping.

It seems to me, though, that you can stop ater just taking of the LCS and spinning it around Exorcist style, can’t you? No reason not to just use the Mac version of the software available….

And this doesn’t only work as a pong clock, but you could use this as a DIY LCD picture frame. Those things are bloody expensive. Great hack. I’m gonna e-mail my dad and find out if he still has any of his old computers.

Exactly why do you need a Pismo to do this? Why wouldn’t a Lombard work just as well?

Can’t believe I’m commenting on my own article but…

What LCD cost? It used to be a laptop, the LCD is kinda included. In my case I had the laptop hanging around - I know a whole lot of other systems admins have busted or old laptops hanging around.

So, cost to me (or you)? Nothing but the price of some epoxy.
